About Us

We love hoops.

We love hoops like Bruce Bowen loves the left corner.
We love hoops like Allen Iverson loves his tattoo parlor.
We love hoops like Isiah Thomas loves multi-year contracts.
We love hoops like Donald Sterling loves counting pennies.

If there is one thing that the writers of the CourtsideTimes.Net have in common, it would be love of the game. If you've been in love before, you know that it compels you to do things that you wouldn't normally do. How else can you explain why grown men would spend their free time obsessing over a sport?

Basketball isn't our only love, hell it isn't even the only sport we like. We're baseball fans that like to visit sites like theHardballTimes.com, BaseballThinkFactory.org, and BaseballProspectus.com. For football, we head to the incomparable FootballOutsiders.com. However when we looked for modern analysis in basketball on the web there was nothing to be found. So instead of pouting like Scottie Pippen not getting the last shot of the game, we decided to create our own site.

The CourtsideTimes.Net aims to be the forefront of forward thinking applied to hoops. If you're here because you want to hear the same tired old cliches or wild trade rumors that will never come to fruition, you're at the wrong site. CTN is going to mix thoughtful commentary from our authors with links to the best news from around the web. The best part is that you, the reader, will be heard. For every topic on this site, you'll be able to share your opinion with us and our readers.

Navigating the site should be fairly easy. In the middle (brown) section of the main page will be articles from our staff. The section on the right (blue) will consist of news articles from around the web. Those that frequent FootballOutsiders or BaseballThinkFactory will be familiar with the news section, but if you're a newbie it's simple. You read the article & if the mood strikes you, leave your opinion on the topic on our site. Half the time, the comments on FO or BTF turn out better than the original article! Anyways, if you get lost on the web page there is always the trusty navigator bar at the top to get you to any section you need.

The writers that I have assembled come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Bloggers, university professors, message board jockeys, stat site admins, and insane asylums (yes on weekends I check in to Belleview, don the white coat and continuously mumble "Charles Smith sucks" over and over again - it's therapeutic). We don't all see things the same way, but we have one thing in common. We're not going to get lazy and take the easy way out with conventional wisdom, because we love the game too much to mail it in that way. We love hoops, like Wilt loved 20,000 of his closest female friends.

Ok maybe not in that way, but you get the point.
